Gas Infrastructure Sector Vision
A skilled, diverse workforce is essential to advancing the
Gas Infrastructure sector’s role in Aotearoa New Zealand’s
shared energy future.
Through strategic training, certification, and implementation of
key Government policies, we will build a resilient workforce,
foster inclusivity, and ensure the sector remains informed,
adaptable and future-focused.
Gas Infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting Aotearoa New Zealand’s energy resilience, from transmission and distribution to LPG storage, gas reticulation, and conditioning.
Gas Infrastructure keeps homes warm, businesses running, and industries moving. As energy needs shift and policy directions evolve, the sector faces challenges in workforce development, skill retention, diversity and inclusion, and public awareness of its role in the wider energy landscape.
Looking ahead, Gas Infrastructure will be key to enabling low-carbon technologies and more sustainable energy practices across the motu. Strengthening this workforce is essential to ensuring the sector can adapt, grow, and lead as the energy system transforms.
